Modern Foreign Languages Faculty

French and Spanish are the two languages taught at Rossett School . We aim to meet all our pupils' needs and learning activities are varied and fun.

The use of ICT has increased considerably over the past few years, enabling us to 'bring the world into the classroom'.Each year in September, the whole school joins in the European celebration of languages

Key Stage 3:

The provision of languages in years 7 & 8 is equally divided between French & Spanish. In year 7 our pupils study French or Spanish for 2 hours a week & in year 8 the allocation is increased to 3 hours a week.

Key Stage 4:

The pupils who decide to study 11 subjects for GCSE are expected to take at least one language. They can either carry on with their first Modern Foreign Language or learn another one. It is also possible to study both languages to GCSE. The students sit their GCSE at the end of year 9 and have the opportunity to study their first language to AS level in year 10.

Foreign Assistants

There are 2 Foreign Language Assistants who work at the school from October to May and it is hoped that all French and Spanish classes will have the opportunity to work with them during the year.
